Beat those flowers!!

Gather flowers from your yard. Or discreetly take them from your neighbors. Lay them on some unbleached muslin.
Cover them with some more muslin (or wax paper)

Give your children a hammer and ask them to hit the flowers with it. Or maybe you should do it. From this point of view, this activity doesn't look safe.

Peel back the muslin, scrape off what is left of the flowers.

Make a sketchbook for your children and cover it with your new flower fabric.

Soooo cute Pam! I'm going to write that down and do it tomorrow. Thanks for the fun idea. Love your art show too. I'm so happy I can read your blog- you are always giving me the best inspiration!

you make it look so easy--and NO my kids will not be touching a hammer--ever. I can only imagine the chaos...

I love that whenever I want to come up with a great project for my kids, I can click on the beach family blog, keep em up Pam, and thanks!

Hey, does the color usually stay or does it brown after a while? Is there a way to make it stay?

hmm. don't know on that. supposedly it will stay if you don't wash it. i have heard rumor that if you soak it in a little vinegar water mixture that it sets the color.

sorry to not be so helpful! but vinegar sets color in cake decorating, it just may in this case too.

Okay, I'm going to try it with some random fabric (not muslin, couldn't find it).
