New Job

I may be speaking too soon, the economy may turn worse, and I may still need my job....but for now, for today, for this moment, the plan is that I get to quit after this next child is born. Like I say, there is some time between now and quitting time, but..... I remain hopeful that our plans will work out. I have approximately 18 more days in the office, give or take. After that, I have 3 months off, then I technically have to come back for a 30 day period before I can quit. Then, I truly hope I can tackle my dreams of becoming best, most patient, loving, fun mom ever.

(Speaking of that, today I reached an all time low and yelled at my kids who were fighting over balloons, "That's it! When we get home, you're both going on time out for the rest of the day!!!". Ya, totally silly and something I would never implement, nor had they done anything worthy of such a punishment anyway. )

So, I have my work cut out for me. I look forward to the extra practice that not working will provide. I think if I were interviewing for the job of "mom".... no one would hire me! But really, more than anything - I want to be good at it!!

My future, by Bryan. Minus the dress. Hopefully including the good meal.

You mean you don't wear the dress and heals everyday? I think it would be fun to have a journal of all the dumb things I have said to my kids...it could be entertaining. You are too cute. I hope you get to stay home too. BTW I went to Albertsons & got my billion boxes of cereal too.

You WILL be the best SAHmom and wife ever! You cook amazing meals and plan the most fun little kiddie activities! Keep it up! I can't wait for you to be home and just down the road!

You can blame me for the balloon problem. It was my fault.

Good work Pamo. It's a big job. I think most working moms say that work is much easier than kid land. But kid land is so rewarding. You will love it and if you don't say weird things to your kids, they don't have any ammunition to use later in life against you-so keep it up.

Only in America.... And probably some other countries where the pay of one job is good enough to live on. Not here. I'm jealous, but then again, I get to spend my mornings with other people's kids, so it's not so bad.

very exciting. although counting down is so long and hard, just adds to the already long pregnancy.

and p.s. I love the dress!! sometimes I think it would have been fun to be a house wife and look like that!

i agree that i should NOT be counting down, i just can't help it.

and akutyger, our economy is not giving me any hope at all! who knows, i may end up working more, and this post will all be in vain!

and i do sometimes want to consider the dress because it will accomadate the weight gain.

You are a great mom Pam! My fingers are crossed that it will work out to quit your "job at the office" and have your full time "job at home."
I love the drawing!

18 days, eh? Wow, that seems so close! Hopefully it will fly be for you. You will love being at home and will put the rest of us SAH moms to shame. You are already super mom and you work too; when you have even more time to do amazing things with your kiddos, we'll all just feel even worse. I love ya anyway!

I think that you are a fabulous mom, regardless of weither you work or not! I haven't done half the things with my kids that you invent with yours--and you work all the time! I work 10 hours a week...if that. But I do love staying at home...and yes, even though I stay home--I MIGHT yell at my kids...every now and then...and ONLY when they deserve it...right??

I heard once on "This American Life" a story by a guy who made a good argument as to why you have to yell at your kids sometimes who said something to the effect of "if I have to yell at my kid to get him to behave, rather than using physical force, and this lesson sticks enough that some where down the road he's learned well enough to not screw up enough to get himself smacked up by a cop, then I have done my job."
