Ok, I have to preface this story with the disclaimer that I have not seen any of the High School Musical movies, nor have my children, nor do I plan on them seeing it. (I keep hearing of stories of little girls who want to watch it 5 times a day, and I'm just not prepared for that.....)
**update, M HAS seen this movie, at her cousins. Who knew.
SO, my brother Legrand calls me today and reminds me of how on our summer trip to Oregon he rode with my sister Sharon and her kids, and subsequently was "trapped" into watching High School musical. He did say he ended up liking it, and willingly put on the headphones to watch it the 3 times on the way up, and 3 times on the way back.
Well last night Legrand is at some club/party downtown and sees this kid and says "Hey, has anyone ever told you that you look like that kid from High School Musical?" So the kid turns around and says "I am that kid from High School Musical. How old are you?" Legrand says, "I'm 31." And this is the best: the kid says "So then what are you doing watching High School Musical?" Then I'm sure Legrand gave some fumbled response as to why he knew so much about a movie popular with 4 - 10 year olds. And the kid says "Well, you're the only here who 'recognized' me."
I love it when Legrand gets busted for participating in the same demographic as young girls who watch High School Musical. We got a really good laugh out of it.

So funny! There are so many young girls jealous of your brother right now! I also never realized that it is kind of nice for those actors to be able to go out to adult places and for the most part not get recognized.
This is hilarious!! I just can't stop laughing!!! I'm so glad Legrand got a pic with the guy.
I must admit, I have seen the movie. I checked it out from the library, just to see what all the hype was about. It's pretty much "Grease" but in today's world. Remember how much we loved "Grease"...Rizzo, Danny, The Pink Ladies...what good memories!
That is the best. Dana would get busted too. He is a real teen at heart...and it is quite a good show.
I've seen it. It's a cute show.
I would expect Legrand to notice him....he pays attention to detail.
That's not you with wavy hair in your header is it?
Cute new header! My junior high kids would love Legrand's story. There always talking about it. I just don't have the desire to see it.
My kids (Coops included) would go bonkers if they met anyone from the movie. They really like both of them.
I am embarassed to admit that I probably would have recognized him too! Love the new header!
jessie, that IS me. in oregon my hair went slightly wavy.
next thing you'll be singing "getcha head in the game" song, right? How can you NOT see that movie, whenever I walk into Wal-mart I am bombarded with HSM paraphenalia.
oh, i embraced high school musical almost a year ago and haven't looked back since. chip was doing a milk ad with the cast so he brought the movie home from work and we (just chip and i, girls were sleeping) watched it twice that night. gross, but really satisfying. the girls have since moved on to hairspray (totally questionable content for the 4-and-under set in that movie- don't judge me) but my appreciation of high school musical remains. a fine film. and i'm nerdily happy your brother got a picture with him.
that rules.
and my husband totally likes it too!
In fact he would have been totally excited to meet that guy, he thinks he is the funniest one on the show.
well apparently i opened my mouth too soon as it seems i am the only one who hasn't seen it...
HSM is rad! i'm so jealous of legrand, but who isn't anyways!
I ended up watching it when I was subbing for the ESL teacher and some of the third graders (well, actually ALL third graders) were obsessed with it. I brought it home and Ju LOVED it. He likes anything with music in it, really. Love the picture.
