The last disco party

With most of our things in boxes (but not the disco ball!) we decided to have one last party in our first home. The home we lived in for 9 years. The home we brought home 3 (of our soon to be 4) children home to. It still makes me a little sad to see this disco party picture, because that room was my favorite one of the whole house. I love the orange grove Bryan painted. I loved my two oldest sharing that room, sleeping in their little beds that my dad built for them. And, I loved disco parties with the kids.

And even in our new house if we painted the orange grove, it probably wouldn't feel the same. So we won't. And now, I don't even know if we'll be having disco parties. Mostly because at the end of this last disco party, or rather, what caused the party to end, the disco ball crashed, maybe beyond repair. Maybe some things are better left behind.

The move is exciting. We love our new house. We love our new neighborhood. It was the right thing to do. But it doesn't change that most of our married life memories took place there. So many great friends and neighbors that we left. So we need to make new memories in our new home, so that we can all grow attached to it. And we will. Starting with welcoming a new little sister. That will be a pretty good place to start.

I would be sad to leave that room, too.

It can be so hard to leave a place you love even if you know it is the right time. It was really hard to leave our first house in Ann arbor. Even though it was too small. So many great things throughout the years.
What a fabulous idea to celebrate your old home with a disco party. I haven't had one of those since leaving the same state as Debbie. Bryan did a perfect job on the mural and those little beds are adorable. I am happy for your family and the new move. I am especially happy for your new daughter. That is a great way for your new place to feel like home.
My daughter still draws pictures if our old house after a year. She says our new house is not as pretty. Her solution is to paint our new house yellow.

I was so happy to see a post. However, then I felt sad about you leaving your first house together...and then I felt excited for the future. Does that mean I stock you on your blog? Yay for new things!

We really miss your presence in this neighborhood! But your new home is a great place to start new memmories. I was telling Garrett about the Crohns walk this May and reminding him that he gets his face painted...he said "Can Liams dad come to paint my face?". Please send your kids my way...I'll even put Maggie in her kennel. Plus the hampster died and the snake was let go so we are pretty much animal free and Milli won't have to stress.

How cool is it to have a disco party? I'm so glad you're loving your new house and neighborhood. I know you'll make lots of great friends there and I can't wait to see your baby!!

Moving is so bitter sweet. Somedays more bitter somedays more sweet. If you ever need to talk about remodeling/moving pains I am totally there too.

Aw, I am sad for you. Moving can be hard. I feel a bit like I felt the last time I went to my mom's house before I moved down here, reading this post. But you are so optimistic and bright, I am sure you will be amazing. Please keep us all updated, we miss your posts.

Good luck with the move--stressful anyways, but probably worse if you are pregnant. If you need a place for the kids to play while you unpack, let me know.

Awesome about your new house! Although I hope you didn't paint over the orange grove...it's just too neat.
