Off to Italy...

M has had a pen pal in Italy (Michela) for about a year now. It has been so wonderful to see how excited M gets to both send and receive packages and letters. I want it to be a cultural experience and so far it has been beyond wonderful.

In writing our last letter to Michela I got thinking that smores are so everyday for us. We have them up the canyon, all summer long. I asked Bryan about the camping/smore tradition in Italy, and he wasn't sure if it was big there. So for our next package, we are sending Michela her own smore ingredients, and recipe. Complete with a picture of M enjoying a smore.

I'm sending her instructions for the oven, since I'm not sure how convenient it is to build a fire where she lives.

What a great idea. You should send her some root beer and ranch dressing. That would rock her world! ;) I would love to get a pen pal for Kitty. Does Bryan have any more up his sleave? All of the kids Ryan knew are grown now. Maybe they have their own children?
Love it.

That has got to be one of the coolest things ever! And what a great cultural experience that your daughter will treasure for the rest of her life, and which will most likely peek her interest in travel and other cultures. Great idea!! Wanna share with the rest of us where/how you found that pen pal?! I LOVE LOVE the idea!
