Birthday parties for dead people.

I'm always trying to come up with new ways to teach my kids about art/artists. My most recent idea is to have "birthday parties" for artists, with artist themed games, food, crafts, etc. Today is Picasso's birthday and seemed like a good place to start.

The cake:

Pin the hat on the Harlequin; Painting after learning about Picasso's Rose Period.

Making collages; I cut up pictures of their own faces, tossed in a few Picasso-esqe shapes, and let them glue.

We also attempted our own light drawings.

It made me think of that song by Oingo Biongo - It's a Dead Man's Party...

Anyways, you never cease to amaze me. I am in awe of your mind! Well all of you really! What a truly wonderful idea. First off, that cake is beautiful, second I love birthday parties, third I love birthday cake, and fourth "did I say I like birthday cake?"...

Maybe I will start doing this! Just for the cake of course! I am an idiot when it comes to art. I love it, but I don't know anything about it.

....as she rambles on and on and on....

SORRY!

This is great! If I ever do get stuck there, I'm sure I'll have a good time.

wow. This is why I should've gone into the arts instead of science. The only party I can throw is how to give yourself an enema and have metamucil for the treat.

Wow Pam you are so stinkin amazing! How do you do it? Teaching your kids about Picaso, decorating cakes that look absolutely fabulouse, and sewing like a seamstress? I wish that I had even 1/8th of the talent that you have!
