I find myself re-creating my childhood in any way that I can. It must have been a good one. When I was a little kid, for much of our entertainment we would slide down the stairs on a super slickery pad that my dad made. He sewed a super slick cover for it so it would go down the stairs all speedy like.
After much coaxing, pleading, and promising to be safe, I talked my dad into making one for my house. All the kids love it, of course. I even went down once, for old times sake. Not the best idea. However, if you weigh under 50 pounds, it's a great idea.

By the looks of Liam's windblown hair, they must be going super fast! How fun!
I'm sitting here laughing at my desk at work. That is so so funny! I love Brian's face. I loved that thing at your parent's house. That is one of my favorite childhood memories. I'd like to try it now.
I really think he should patent that thing. You guys have good insurance right?
We loved going to your parent's house on Sunday night. I think the mat made it out every single - that or the parachute!
I used to do this on a bean bag chair when my mom wasn't looking. When she was, she would always tell me I was going to wear the carpet off the stairs doing it. Eventually some of the carpet did wear off, but I think that was the cat's fault, not mine.
Pam... once again, you have me laughing hysterically at all of your recent posts. But seriously, Greta is absolutely darling and I just love reading about your new family of 5 :)
This is the coolest thing ever! Mark always talks about sliding down his stairs in a laundry basket - this seems a lot more comfortable and safe! If we ever finish our stairs I may have to ask you how your dad makes this. what a fun mom you are!
This looks like a good way for some kids end up beller'n.
i am so jealous that you have recreated a childhood moment worth reliving.. i only need a house, some stairs and a family now..
Liam's face is just priceless. Those were the days.
